Camillus Houses’ 62nd Thanksgiving Serving More Than 500 Guests with Meals, Haircuts, and Showers

MIAMI, FLA – Camillus House will celebrate its Thanksgiving Day feast at the Norwegian Cruise Line Campus of Camillus House, located at 1603 NW 7th Avenue. Organizers expect over 80 teen and adult volunteers (some who’ve been coming for decades) to help serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal to more than 500 of the charity’s residential and day center clients. The event will begin promptly on Thursday, November 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the campus’ dining hall with a brief presentation and remarks from local officials, followed by the meal service and hygiene kit distribution.

“This year marks the first Thanksgiving celebration since COVID 19 hit that we’ve been able to open our doors to our community the way we’re accustomed. We are thrilled to welcome back eager volunteers and share a day of togetherness while serving a wonderful hot meal to many of our clients for whom Camillus is their family,” said Hilda Fernandez, CEO of Camillus House.

Preparations for the feast are underway and we couldn’t spread love and hope to the homeless community without the help of so many partners. Camillus House chefs are roasting 120 turkeys at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, whose once again offered their larger kitchen to help prepare this year’s feast, which includes veggies donated by Green Produce Company. Haircuts will be provided courtesy of I ♡ Avenue and other local barbers, while DJ Lu brings upbeat music to match the festive occasion.

Camillus House continues to accept donations throughout the year including on Thanksgiving Day, at the campus.
