Sometimes lessons learned outside the classroom are as important as lessons learned in class. That holds true for students who are part of South Miami Middle School’s “The Power of 1” Club. They donated bags of hygiene products and other necessities to the South Miami Police Department and Camillus House to help those less fortunate.

The much-needed items from the project, which was sponsored by the Community-Police Relations Foundation, will be used at our Day Center and also be distributed through our specialized street outreach programs. The students’ stash includes hygiene kits, underwear, socks, soap, deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes and more.

Thank you to the knowledgeable in kindness students from South Miami Middle School and to super sponsor the Community-Police Relations Foundation and Chairman/CEO Al Eskenazi for also awarding five laptops to the Power of 1 students who led this effort and making a $1,000 donation to help Camillus House.

To donate to Camillus House, you don’t need an online class. It just takes an easy click to: camillus.org/donate. Thank you.
