Camillus House opened the Anthony & Genevieve Abraham Cedars Court in August 2011. Located on the Norwegian Cruise Line Campus of Camillus House, Cedars Court provides permanent housing in a brand new, eco-friendly and energy efficient apartment building for 80 persons who were chronically homeless.

The seven-story facility, co-developed by Camillus House and Biscayne Housing Group using public financing, includes a range of green, energy-saving features unusual for a low-cost project. They include high efficiency air conditioning systems, motion sensor lighting, and a rooftop array of photovoltaic panels that feed power into the local electrical grid.

As part of Camillus House’s broad based approach, apartments at the campus are being rented for under $200 per month to persons who are chronically homeless, many with physical and/or mental disabilities, who have sources of income — government assistance or, in some cases, jobs.

Cedars Court provides activities and amenities including computer and exercise rooms to keep residents en-gaged and build a sense of community while case managers work with them to ensure they remain housed.
