A History of Quality Care
Operating as a ministry of the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd, the center delivered its first health care services in 1984, when a group of volunteer doctors began to provide basic services to clients eating dinner at the Camillus House soup kitchen. Since then, Camillus Health has grown into a sophisticated, professional health care delivery organization operating a state-of-the-art health center with community and street outreach sites.
Camillus Health has been a Healthcare for the Homeless 330(h) grantee through the Bureau of Primary Health Care since 1989 and was designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 1996.
